Emily Mikus is a musician born and raised in a small town north of Jacksonville, called Callahan, Florida.
Growing up with a rockstar as a father, Emily has always felt music close to her heart. Whenever she started middle school, she didn’t want to be in a gym class, so she had the option to take band instead. When deciding between two instruments, her dad encouraged her to pick up the saxophone so she could play rock and roll with his band when she got older. Though she has lived in Callahan her whole life, she went against the grain her sophomore year and decided to leave her school in Callahan, and attend Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in Jacksonville to further her career as a musician.
As a graduate from an arts high school and music major at Jacksonville University, Emily is used to the rigorous tasks involved with being a performing musician. Being both a classical and jazz saxophonist, singer, songwriter, solo acoustic performer, and worship leader, Emily is well rounded and knows how to play in many performance settings with multiple styles of music. Over the course of her time as a musician, Emily has performed in prestigious halls and conferences such as Carnegie Hall, The Midwest Clinic in Chicago, and more. She is continuing her music career as a solo acoustic performer for restaurants, weddings, churches, and events.
Emily has a love for the Lord, performing, and ministering to others. While attending Douglas Anderson, Emily started a bible study at her school. After just a few months, it grew so much that they added a new club called Fellowship of Christian Artists, which seated over 100 per month. In her years at Jacksonville University, she has started a chapter of Delight Ministries, a college women’s ministry, and will be working for Delight after graduation as a Regional Director. Emily wants to be a light in the music industry and plans on making a career out of her passion, singing and songwriting.
